Willie Mays, a celebrated Hall of Fame member and baseball legend, has died at the age of 93. Colleagues from the baseball community shared their statements.

Willie Mays, a legendary member of the Hall of Fame, has died at the age of 93. His son Michael Mays announced his passing in a statement released by the San Francisco (SF) Giants: “My father passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones…I want to thank you all from the bottom of my broken heart for the unfailing love you have shown him over the years. You were the source of his life.”

It is reported that Mays died two days before the match between the Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals, which was held in honor of the Negro League at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama.

SF Giants, Mays’ longtime team, released a touching statement and video dedicated to his performance. “He leaves us with an eternal reminder that we need to work hard and find joy in this wonderful game and in this extraordinary life. Hi, Willie Mays. The best there has ever been,” the statement said.
