About two decades ago, Jerry Windle was a single man in his mid-thirties, whose life was in chaos. His mother died, so he decided to change his profession and move from California to Florida.

He wanted to be a father for many years. He tried to adopt a child, but there were very few opportunities for this, especially for a single gay man. While waiting for a doctor’s appointment in Florida, he accidentally looked at an article in a magazine that changed his life forever.
Despite the difficulties he faced trying to adopt a child, a magazine article describing the adoption story of another single gay man in Cambodia revived lost hope.
