A beloved member of the Star Trek and Marvel universes has passed away.
On February 25, beloved actor Kenneth Mitchell’s family released a statement confirming Mitchell’s passing. Over the last five years, Kenneth Mitchell lived with and battled ALS.
“With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kenneth Alexander Mitchell, beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, son and dear friend,” the statement began. “Ken was widely known as an actor in many films and television shows.”
He was just 49 years old.
“He’s portrayed an Olympic hopeful, an apocalypse survivor, an astronaut, a superhero’s dad, and four unique Star Trekkers,” the statement continued. Mitchell is survived by his wife, fellow actor Susan, best known for her role in Center Stage, and their two young children, Lila and Kallum.
Along with being known publicly as a talented actor, Mitchell loved nature, cats, the beach, the movies. He loved giving gifts, sending notes, gardening, and watching sports, but most importantly, he was a “proud father.”
“Ken was the keeper of countless friendships. Like a massive star exploding with kindness, purity and a particular brand of silly, you were pulled right into his orbit. Once captured, Ken could bathe you in positivity, thoughtfulness, and hilarity, and make you feel so loved. […] He absolutely loved to laugh.”
