Prince William has provided an update on Kate Middleton’s health following her unexpected cancer diagnosis.
In March of this year, the Duchess of Cambridge disclosed that she had been undergoing cancer treatment, ending much online speculation about her absence. Breaking her silence, she expressed gratitude for the public’s support, acknowledging that it had been “an incredibly tough couple of months” for her entire family.
“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was believed that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful,” Kate stated. “However, post-operative tests revealed the presence of cancer. Consequently, my medical team recommended a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am currently in the early stages of that treatment.”
The royal described the diagnosis as a “huge shock,” but noted that she is “getting stronger every day.”
Kate concluded her statement with a message of solidarity: “At this time, I am also thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone.”
Earlier this week, Prince William offered a positive update on his wife’s health during a conversation with members of the public at James’ Place Newcastle. When inquired about his family’s well-being, William responded, “We’re all doing well, thank you.” When specifically asked about Catherine, he reiterated, “We’re all doing well.”
During a recent visit to a high school, Prince William received gifts for his wife from the St. Michael’s Church of England High School’s senior mental health lead, Kerry Whitehouse. These gifts included Lego sunflowers, as “building things is therapeutic,” and sunflower seeds, symbolising “positivity.”
Regarding her diagnosis in March, Kate emphasised the time it took to recover from surgery and to communicate the situation to her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, in an age-appropriate manner. She assured them of her well-being and stated, “I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body, and spirit.”
